Educational Apps and Websites
Below are useful apps that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store onto your iPad or opened using your browser (you may need to install Chrome for some). If you have a connector for your iPad, you can connect your iPad to your projector, and use these whole-class. Connectors for your iPad can be purchased here.
Aurasma - Run this app and move your phone over the image and watch it come to life.
Layar Augmented Reality - This app allows you to analyze the image and then it comes to life and gives you more information
Word Lens - This augmented reality app translates 8 different languages when you hold your phone over the words.
Padlet - Collaboration pad
Titanpad.com - This app allows you to have a public pad without logins.
PowToon - Create animated videos and presentations. Much easier that prezi.
Pixton - Create a comic – you can add your own art, images, and it includes lots of templates.
Flipboard - Collect information and create a personal magazine.
Jim Burke Organizers - Online or paper graphic organizers
Classbadges - You can award badges to your students for anything you want.
fotor - You can take photos and edit them. You can put frames, text, stamps, and speech bubbles.
Animoto - You can make a movie from pictures you input.
Educlipper - You can make digital portfolios. Kind of like Pinterest for educators
MeeGenius - Reading app that has all kinds of level books. You have the option of highlighting text and lists lexile level. Lots of non-fiction
iStoryBooks - This app has lots of books for all ages. It has listening to reading.
SparkleFish - Like MadLibs – You can record a story by saying the parts of speech when prompted.
Reader - Great app for k-1 for learning beginning sounds of letters.
Poplet Lite - Create mind maps. This helps students think and learn visually.
Word Magnets Lite - Word magnets let you make up sentences my moving around magnets on the screen.
Poetry Magnet - Create poems using magnets
Fill the Gap - Works with filling in missing letters in all positions. Students apply phonics and can choose word length.
Hang on Man - A great hangman game to learn vocabulary.
Vocabulary Spelling City - Fun way to learn spelling and vocabulary words by playing games using any word list.
Storyonline.net - The screen actors are reading the book
Readworks.org - This comes with stories and assessments.
Telagami - The students can create an avatar with emotion to retell their story.
Voki - Does the same as Telagami.
